When the young girl woke up, she found a family that was not her own
The sister she had known to love had become a green-eyed devil, taunting her
The loving mother, a bystander, not caring to intervene
The strict but beloved father, fuel to the devil's power
The devil endlessly gnawed at her nerves
When confronted with torturous noises, she screamed to drown it out
Her own words became twisted in her ears as she cried
She screamed and picked up her feet, stumbling along the way
Forever hoping there was one place that had not been thrown into flames
She locked herself in the haven, feeling the coolest breeze as she rushed in
She found hope in a new friend, and told him of her woes
Somehow her tales were twisted, transformed into painful bursts of noise
Though her throat pained her so, she stood tall and picked herself up
She opened the iron door, walking through the flames of Hell
She knew to slay the beast, she need only confront it
She slowly descended what used to be a mountain of flames
Her hands no longer charred from grappling with its structure
She turned her thoughts to negotiate, using her kindest words
Realizing that her own voice was a growl left unheard
She knew it was her own body emanating flames of hate
She could not turn the switch off, there was no set knob
She thrashed around, fighting her nerves, fighting the profound
She finally swept herself up into her claimed base
She cursed herself for what she did asking herself, "Why?"
Never once was a footstep heard, for she could only lie
She waited eons for the day, but no one ever came
They left her there to wallow in her ever present shame
She watched the walls dance as she could not find relief
The sweet embrace that would have meant the end of this nightmarish scene
Once she was there, she need only wait, and wake up in the morn'
For she knew that her true flesh and blood would return
She hoped it would mean her waking from this aching dream gone bad
She hoped it would end the suffering she felt so deep inside
For now insomnia would take over, holding her mind hostage
Her head ached as she thought of death, and how sweet it would be
She shook her head in anger, who would ever think of such a thing?
All she hoped for was comfort, but it never came
Be it the over-assumptions of the morphed family or just the opposite of care
She wanted the comforting hand she had felt in the past
She wanted it to push back her hair and have warm conversations
She wanted HOME, but she would never wake up
Those days of sympathy were over, now she lay tortured and torn to pieces
She looked to a mirror, seeing her crimson skin
She only now realized, she was the true embodiment of Satan
